Advice has been received by air mail of the the death, on October 26, at La Paz, Bolivia, in his sixty-nineth year, of Mr George Allan, founder and director of the Bolivian Indian Mission. Mr Allan, who was the youngest son of Mr Joseph Allan, one of the pioneers of the Taieri district, left New Zealand with Mrs Allan in 1899 to engage in mission work in South America, and, after working eight years, they returned to Dunedin. The Bolivian Indian Mission was then formed, and the organisation steadily grew until to-day it has a staff of over 60 workers. Mrs Allan died several years ago, and Mr Allan is survived by a daughter, Mrs M. Hudspeth, who is a member of the mission in Bolivia, and a son, Mr Joseph Allan, of Riverton.
